Upstream Services

We give our clients added expertise for Seismic and Directional drilling operations.

Our Upstream Services business provides integrated directional drilling and seismic services.  The business consists of the services provided by IOT's Seismic Services division and Newsco Asia. We acquired Newsco Asia in 2008 with license to operate in 28 countries to exploit the opportunities presented by increased use of deviated drilling by oil and gas companies in Asia.

The Newsco Asia business provides us access to directional and horizontal drilling technology as well as research and development, with a strong presence in directional drilling services in India. Newsco Asia also operates workshops at Mumbai and Duliajan in India that provide support for major repairs and maintenance of various equipments. We believe our access to the Measurement While Drilling (MWD) technology and research and development capabilities of Newsco Asia and our investment in Newsco Services provides us with a competitive advantage when competing for upstream services projects in India.

The Upstream Services subsequently entered into the seismic services business of  data acquisition and interpretation and have undertaken seismic survey services in the difficult terrain of Karbi Anglong, Assam for Oil India Limited (OIL). As a complement to our upstream services business, we engage third party sub-contractors to provide additional services on an as-needed basis to support our upstream activities.

We intend to further increase our upstream services capability by offering a full suite of integrated drilling services to complement our core competency of directional drilling. We also intend to develop our seismic acquisition capabilities to cover on land 3D services, transition zone and offshore services.
